XDAILY stands for eXplained Daily. It is a place for the questions you have been meaning to look up properly: why the sky is blue but sunsets are red, how a phone knows where it is, why ice floats, what a black hole actually is, how the heart keeps a rhythm without being told to. We answer them carefully, in plain language, and we show you how scientists came to know the answer.
Why we write
Science is the most reliable way humans have found to understand the world, yet it often reaches people either as dense jargon or as breathless headlines. Neither helps much. We wanted a calm middle ground: explanations that respect your intelligence, use everyday examples, admit what is still uncertain and leave you able to explain the idea to someone else.
What we cover
Our explainers are grouped into six fields: Space, Planet Earth, How Things Work, The Human Body, Physics & Chemistry, and Big Ideas. Each explainer starts from a concrete question and builds the answer step by step.
How we work
We draw on established sources such as space agencies, national science academies, geological and meteorological services, peer-reviewed reviews and university textbooks. Numbers are rounded and dated, simplifications are flagged, and when experts disagree we say so. Our full approach is described in the editorial policy.
What we are not
We are educators, not doctors. Explainers about the human body describe how it works; they never diagnose or treat anything. For questions about your own health, please speak to a medical professional.
How XDAILY is funded
XDAILY is free and is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. We do not accept payment to cover a topic, and advertisers have no say in what we write. Questions, corrections and ideas are welcome on our contact page.
